H1N1 Employee and Supervisor Updates
Human Resource Services has developed a Workforce Planning for Emergency and/or Suspended Operations or Emergency Closure Guide intended to help departments/colleges develop their short and long-term
organizational responses to emergencies and/or suspended operations or facility closures.
The techniques and processes presented for consideration in this guide are not all inclusive, but rather
represent Human Resource Services' efforts to provide workforce related planning information for use in developing a department/college's comprehensive plan for emergency and/or suspended operations or facility closure.
Human Resource Services staff can support
and assist managers in preparing their plans, but workforce planning is the responsibility of the department/college and should contain those operational aspects that are specific to the department/college.

Shared Values and Standards of Conduct
Performance Management
Andy Cover – Human Resource Services, Employee Relations
Below are the web links to these values and standards forms and the revised training for your information and use. We encourage you to discuss these values and standards with all classified or professional staff you supervise/manage to ensure they understand their responsibility to uphold these values and standards and that they are aware that they will be evaluated on their adherence to these values and standards as part of their next evaluation.

Additionally, the President has assigned Human Resource Services the responsibility for ensuring all new employees have read and understand their responsibility for compliance with the University's Shared Values and Standards of Conduct. Because there are several other critical policies and directives that new employees must be educated about and are held accountable for (such as Anti-Harassment and Non-Discrimination policies), we have united these documents under one Policy Compliance Certification Process for all new employees. This certification process will be e-mail driven as part of the selection approval process coordinated by Human Resources' Employment Services. The new employee's supervisor will be emailed the certification document and will be responsible to ensure the employee understands their responsibility for compliance and they sign and return the Certification Form to the supervisor in a timely fashion. The supervisor will then sign the document and return the completed form to Human Resource Services, within 30 days after the employee's first day of employment, to complete the process.
Thank you for your assistance in making our shared values and standards of conduct an everyday part of Boise State University. If you have any questions about the new Performance Standards or the certification process, please feel free to contact Human Resource Services at 426-4419.
New Faculty and Professional Benefit Orientations
New employees who are hired in a benefit-eligible position have the option of completing an Online Benefits Orientation or attending an in-person Benefits Orientation through the Human Resource Services office. Human Resource Services will contact new employees to schedule their orientation of choice.
It is recommended that prior to viewing the online orientation, employees print off the New Employee Checklist which is located on the welcome screen. The New Employee Checklist is a required form and can be used as a guide throughout the online orientation. All required forms will need to be completed and returned to Human Resource Services within two weeks of completing the online benefits orientation.
The Online Benefits Orientation Includes:
- An introduction to Boise State University - Click here to view a welcome message from the President at http://www.boisestate.edu/president/
- An overview of fringe benefits including important university policies
- The procedure for obtaining a parking pass, ID Card, etc.
To access the online benefits orientation, please click here and select the faculty or the professional benefits orientation depending on employment classification.
Contact the Benefits Department, Human Resource Services, at (208) 426-1616 with any questions.
Time and Labor
Time and Labor is an electronic time gathering tool that allows you to enter your time worked or time off without having to fill out a paper time sheet or leave report form.
Most faculty and professional staff are on exception time reporting. You will use Time and Labor to enter time off.
Classified employees and students will use Time and Labor to enter hours worked.
If you are unsure about whether or not you should use Time and Labor, please ask your direct supervisor. You will be able to access Time and Labor once you have been hired into the HR Payroll system through Bronco Web.
There is regular training scheduled. Please see the Employee Learning and Development Web Site for available training dates.

Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS)
A new web page has been created for the HRIS function within the HRS team. This section of the HRS website is to assist employees and faculty of the university with their HR data needs from the PeopleSoft system (HR information only). A report/data request form has been created, accessible from the HRIS page. We are excited to introduce this new electronic functionality to increase the ease of reporting both within HR and to the decision makers across the University.
