Taco Bell Arena at Boise State University seeks an Executive Director. This position reports to the Associate Vice President for Finance and Administration. Taco Bell Arena is the home of the Boise State University Bronco basketball teams. It is a 13,000 seat multipurpose event center perfectly suited to host major concerts, performance events, sporting events, family shows, circuses, ice shows, conventions, conferences, and trade shows. Boise State University is in the midst of an exciting period of rapid growth and development as a Metropolitan Research University in Idaho's capital city.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Organize and oversee the fundamental business components associated with the operation of a public event facility to include, but not limited to: fiscal administration, sales, marketing and promotion, booking and scheduling, contracting, operation and maintenance, product selection, event management, risk management, life safety and security, technical production, crowd management, parking and traffic control, implementation of industry best practices and employee management.
- Maintain active membership in IAAM.
- Develop and direct an operation and maintenance program to adequately preserve the physical assets of the facility.
- Lead staff to meet the overall mission of the facility through team building and process development.
- Develop new revenue streams.
- Prioritize and manage multiple projects; work cooperatively to meet external and internal goals and objectives; work independently on critical projects, meet deadlines, and treat items of confidential nature with sensitivity.
- Understand and function within a University setting, anticipate issues and potential problems and implement immediate corrective action.
Successful candidates will have a thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of large public assembly venues and facilities. Including but not limited to:
- Experience in successful leadership positions in the non-profit, public, academic or for profit sector, including responsibility for facility management, budget development, marketing, cultural and educational program management, strategic planning and staff supervision.
- Experience in public assembly and event management including experience negotiating events and shows.
- Understanding of live music industry and arena booking and scheduling processes
- Understanding of how to prioritize usage needs to balance campus activities and community usage with the need to schedule commercial events.
- Understanding of marketing processes associated with commercial events.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree
- Five years directly-related experience or seven years experience in similar type of work
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:
- Master's degree in Business Administration
- IAAM CFE status or in the process of obtaining status
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
The Executive Director of the Taco Bell Arena, is a 12-month full-time professional position; salary commensurate with education and experience. Boise State University offers a competitive benefits package, including 24 vacation and 12 sick days per year, health insurance, disability insurance, life insurance, dental insurance, and retirement benefits.
