Custodial Services Manager
Facilities, Operations & Maintenance Department
BOISE STATE UNIVERSITY invites qualified individuals interested in providing quality services in a dynamic and rewarding environment to apply for the position of Manager of Custodial Services in the Facilities Operations and Maintenance Department.
Reporting to the Director of Facilities Operations and Maintenance, this position is responsible for the administration, control, direction, organization, and oversight of a custodial services division which is involved in cleaning approximately 1.5 million square feet on a comprehensive college campus. This includes the management of full time staff, various temporary personnel, and outside contractors, along with the associated budgetary responsibilities. This position is also responsible for the coordination of the solid waste disposal and recycling activities on the campus.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Six years of experience in a related field, including the following:
- Progressively responsible management experience (or equivalent level of practical experience) in planning, organizing, and directing a diverse workforce involved in the custodial operations of large multi-facility complex.
- Experience in managing and supervising personnel including: recruitment, training, work assignment, setting expectations, and evaluating performance.
- Proven success in motivating employees and maintaining good morale.
- Must lead by example and be committed to a respectful, collaborative, and open work environment which values teamwork, ethical conduct, and exemplary customer service.
- Broad knowledge of cleaning issues and strategies, specialty cleaning programs, industry practices and standards, and janitorial supplies and equipment.
- Experience using computerized maintenance management systems.
- Experience managing a substantial budget in a university or other large organizational environment. This includes the ability to create and evaluate analytical approaches and financial models for use in resource allocation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Six years progressively responsible management experience in higher education.
