Statewide Technical Assistant Coordinator

Boise State University invites interested applicants for the position of Special Education Statewide Technical Assistant Coordinator (Early Childhood and Elementary), to become a part of our team to continue our quest toward becoming a Metropolitan Research University of Distinction.
Special Education Statewide Technical Assistant Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and management of statewide training and technical assistance to school districts. To accomplish this the Coordinator will work with State Department of Education (SDE) and Center on School Improvement and Policy (CSI) staff as collegiate team members to: coordinate and provide technical assistance to school districts; represent the SDE and the CSI on a variety of task forces, committees and study groups; research, interpret and disseminate relevant information regarding compliance and performance indicators; inform policy development; prepare necessary reports and documents.
The Coordinator will plan, organize and provide technical assistance and direct training for school districts and agencies on a variety of educational and administrative issues; coordinate with the SDE and CSI on program improvement activities with districts/agencies; participate in compliance monitoring of special education programs in Idaho school districts and other agencies; maintain and update resource materials and information and keep Idaho school districts informed regarding current evidence-based education practices that improve outcomes for students with disabilities
You will have the opportunity to:
- Work collaboratively with local district staff, SDE and CSI staff to implement initiatives, which will result in improved performance and outcomes of students with disabilities; Adhere to the program philosophy, approaches, policies, and practices of the SDE and the CSI
- Develop and coordinate consultation, technical assistance, and professional development activities for school district personnel including, regular and special education teachers, para educators, and administrators related to the provision of special education at the Early Childhood and Elementary levels
- Develop user-friendly support tools and resources that can be utilized by school districts to improve the use of effective practices and services for special education at Early Childhood and Elementary levels.
- Provide training on instructional/learning strategies including collecting, analyzing, and interpreting ongoing data of strategy effectiveness. Prepare and deliver professional presentations and training sessions through a variety of venues, including face to face and electronic.
- Establishes and coordinates professional learning communities among Early Childhood and Elementary special educators for the purpose of providing on-going support and technical assistance. Coordinates and supports a cadre of teacher-leaders through the Early Childhood Special Education Mentor program
- Maintain on-going personal professional development and current knowledge of the trends in program development and evidence based practices in Early Childhood and Elementary and related subjects
At a minimum you should have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or equivalent professional experience
- Three to five years teaching experience at the Early Childhood and/or Elementary level
The preferred candidate will have:
- Master’s degree in Education
- Three to five years teaching experience at the Early Childhood and/or Elementary level in the field of special education
Salary and benefits: Salary DOE, plus an excellent benefits package including medical/dental/vision/life/LTD insurance, retirement plan, reduced tuition benefits, 24 days vacation leave and 12 days sick leave annually, plus 10 paid holidays, as well as other benefits.
