Teacher/Educational Specialist

Upward Bound is a federally funded program provided through the U. S. Department of Education and administered through Boise State University, and the College of Education.
During the regular school year the Educational Specialist will teach 50 low-income students whose parents do not have a Bachelor's degree. Instruction will be spread over 3 class periods at Owyhee High School, in Owyhee, Nevada on the Duck Valley Indian Reservation. Information to be covered includes college exploration, career exploration, language art development, and preparation for pre-college tests. This position assists seniors enrolled in the program in applying for admissions to college, financial aid, scholarships, and assists them in being prepared to begin postsecondary education.
This person acts as part of the TRIO Pre-College Programs team. Responsibilities will include participating as a chaperone for in town and out of town field trips and eventually serving as a trip planner. Opportunities for employment in June and July will be available in the UB Summer Program.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's of Education.
- State of Idaho or Nevada Secondary Certification.
- Must be willing to fly, drive vans, and supervisor youth overnight.
Preferred Requirements:
- Masters in Education
- Bilingual/bicultural
Salary depends on experience and .48 cents per mile reimbursement for mileage. This is a full time position with access to all benefits including insurance, retirement, and tuition fee waiver. Position will begin when school starts.
