Assistant Professor Of Public Relations
Department Of Communication
Beginning Fall Semester, 2010
The Department of Communication at Boise State University seeks an assistant professor in public relations. A communication perspective recognizes the managerial nature of public relations and promotes theoretical understanding of communicative processes, as well as the development of skills related to the practice of, public relations. The candidate will teach in areas such as PR writing; PR ethics; media relations; evaluation and measurement; crisis communication; PR campaigns; international public relations, and related PR support courses. The candidate will also have the opportunity to teach courses in her/his areas of interest and specialization. In addition to fulfilling her/his teaching duties, the successful candidate will be expected to engage in scholarly research and publication. The department is committed to the balanced integration of theory and practice in the teaching, professional, and community activities of its faculty.
The department has eighteen full-time faculty and enrolls more than 700 undergraduate majors and 30 graduate students annually. In our research and teaching we are strongly committed to providing students with a broad-based education in the complex processes of interaction and meaning-making. Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must have a completed doctorate by August 2010. Applicants
must also demonstrate excellence or the potential for excellence in teaching
at the undergraduate and graduate level and in scholarly research.
