Construction Management
Tenure Track Faculty Position
The College of Engineering at Boise State University invites applications for a tenure-track, faculty position in the Construction Management (CM) Department for Fall 2008 Semester. The appointment is targeted for the assistant professor level; however, candidates with exceptional qualifications will be considered for a senior level appointment. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses, assist in developing a graduate program, engage in scholarly activities, and actively participate in Department, College and University service. The successful candidate will also be expected to interact with students, industry, educational partners, and the community to promote a greater understanding of the importance of construction education, research, and professional practice in a regional and global setting. Candidates must possess excellent oral and written English communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Masters degree in civil or construction engineering, architecture or construction management
- Demonstrated ability to teach university-level courses in construction materials and methods, building estimating, concrete formwork and temporary structures, and jobsite management and project administration
- One year of U.S. construction industry experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- An earned advanced degree, focused on construction or building science. (Ph.D., Ed.D or other terminal degree), or commitment to complete a doctorate within five years
- Professional engineering or architecture license, or professional construction certification
- Demonstrated ability to perform scholarly and creative work
- Recent, current design or construction industry experience
- Recent, demonstrated interest in sustainable systems studies as they relate to construction or development
- Membership and active participation in trade, professional or industry organizations
- Demonstrated capability with current and commonly utilized design and or construction management software applications
- Five years of U.S. construction industry experience
The CM Department (http://coen.boisestate.edu/cm/home.asp) is nationally recognized and offers a Bachelor of Science degree accredited by the American Council for Construction Education. The department currently serves approximately 260 construction management students.
