Assistant/Associate Professor of Early Childhood Studies

The faculty members of the Department of Special Education and Early Childhood Studies at Boise State University seek a colleague to join us in a tenure track Assistant/Associate Professor position beginning August 2008. The programs in Early Childhood studies are an innovative blend of Early Childhood Education and Early Childhood Special Education, preparing professionals to effectively deliver inclusive educational and early intervention services to all children. Faculty members teach in the B.A. and A.A. programs in Early Childhood Studies, serve as advisors and instructors in two master's degree programs in Early Childhood Studies, and participate in the college's doctoral program in Curriculum and Instruction. In addition, we work collaboratively with our public school colleagues in birth through third grade partnership settings, and actively pursue scholarly activities.
Position Description
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Early Childhood Studies.
- Support pre-service and in-service early childhood professionals in school and community settings.
- Engage in scholarly and professional service activities.
- Advise graduate students and serve on graduate committees.
Required Qualifications
- Doctorate in early childhood education, early childhood special education, child development, early intervention, or closely related field (ABD will be considered).
- Teaching and/or early intervention experience in birth through third grade programs.
- Willingness to work collaboratively with schools and community agencies.
- Scholarly agenda.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in teaching at the university level, especially in distance learning and with technology.
- Experience providing services to young children with atypical development and/or disabilities.
- Experience providing services to infants.
- Experience in providing supervision to pre-service professionals in school and community settings.
- Experience in working with families of young children.
