Boise State University invites applications for the position of Intensive English instructors (part-time, temporary positions).  The Intensive English Program (part of International Programs) is establishing a pool of qualified instructors to fill these positions. Instructors teach academic English to non-native speakers seeking to improve their language skills for admission to US universities or to enhance personal growth.

About the Intensive English Program
The IEP currently offers courses divided into four proficiency levels; the curriculum includes instruction in the four core language skills and cultural- and academic-based electives. These courses are scheduled during the day from Monday through Thursday.  A typical class in the IEP has between 6 and 12 students.

Position Responsibilities
This position requires a measure of flexibility; you will teach students at different levels and sometimes need to adjust to last-minute changes. We are small, but growing program and the ability to work well with others  is essential. Further responsibilities include:

Assessing new student English proficiency levels;
Managing attendance and other class-related reports on Blackboard;
Collaborating with the other instructors and administration to assure student progress and satisfaction;
Co-developing curriculum and selecting text books;
Participating regularly in staff meetings;  and
Responding to the various needs of an international population.

Minimum requirements:
Master's degree in English, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition, or a related field and experience teaching for at least two years.

Preferred qualifications:
Experience teaching English in another country.
Background in learning a foreign language.
Sincere interest in working with an  international population.

Salary and Benefits:
Hourly compensation commensurate with education and experience.
