Position Summary

Boise State University invites interested applicants for the position, Research Administration Business Analyst to join us in our quest toward becoming a Metropolitan Research University of Distinction.  The purpose of this position is to analyze OSP business practices, perform frequent report requests, and evaluate and maintain software systems.  This position is expected to act as a liaison with academic, technical and administrative units on campus to represent the needs of the Division of Research and Economic Development. This position is the point of contact for the Office of Sponsored Programs software systems.

 

You will have the opportunity to: 

 

  • Review, analyze and create detailed documentation of business practices and user needs, including workflow, program functions, and steps required to improve service, and efficiencies in business processes.
  • Run recurring reports and distribute to faculty, department chairs and deans on a quarterly basis, and assist in researching, compiling, and analyzing data for internal and external report requests.
  • Assist in defining, developing and implementing quality assurance practices and procedures, test plans and other quality assurance and quality control assessments.
  • Work with managers in Division of Research and Economic Development, managers in other divisions, and staff members to research, define, implement and modify system procedures as necessary to satisfy the needs of the end users and allow for sufficient internal controls and compliance.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
  • 2 years’ experience in same or similar type of work
  • Knowledge of business process design
  • Familiarity with systems that support sponsored program administration, including reporting needs and standard data fields
  • Demonstrated analytical and troubleshooting skills with complex subjects and tasks
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Ability to present and explain complex technical topics, problems, alternative solutions to others
Preferred Qualifications
  •    Experience in a higher education or government organization working with ERP and business processes
  •    Knowledge of and/or experience with the following systems and applications:
  1. PeopleSoft HCM
  2. PeopleSoft Student
  3. PeopleSoft FCM
  4. Oracle Databases
  5. Crystal Reports
  6. Unix or a variation (including Telnet, FTP, etc.)
  7. MS Word
  8. MS Excel
  9. MS Access
  10. MS Visio
  11. MS Project
  •   Advanced analytical and troubleshooting skills with complex technical subjects and tasks
  •   Experience as a business analyst in a software development environment working with an ERP system
  • Experience working with both functional and technical users to define business needs and process changes
Salary

Salary will be determined based on education and qualifications.  An excellent benefits package includes medical/dental/vision/life/LTD insurance, retirement plan, reduced tuition benefits, 24 days vacation leave and 12 days sick leave annually, plus 10 paid holidays, as well as other benefits.
