Position Summary

Boise State University invites interested applicants for the position of Assistant Business Manager. The successful applicant will become part of our team as we build a Metropolitan Research University of Distinction. The individual in this position will assist in ensuring internal controls for athletic business functions and compliance with University, internal and external auditor, NCAA, State and Federal laws and policies.  This position will require a strong, working knowledge and understanding of NCAA, Conference, and Institutional rules and regulations.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Reconcile the athletic shadow system to the general ledger monthly.
  • Monitor budget variances.
  • Prepare schedules to manage and forecast budget to actual financial statements.
  • Research and analyze data for accuracy, trends, and variances ensuring acceptable business practices and procedures, as well as, compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Create, reconcile, and monitor subsidiary ledger spreadsheets.
  • Oversee independent contractor process for the department.
  • Supervise day-to-day processing to ensure internal controls of business processes.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional experience
  • 0-1 years of experience in similar type of work
  • Knowledge and understanding of NCAA rules and regulations regarding compliance issues
  • Demonstrated experience in financial analysis and budget management
  • Experience in use and analysis of accounting software and applications
  • Demonstrated skill in multi-level spreadsheet development and manipulation using Excel
  • Working knowledge of accounting procedures and practices
  • Experience in cash management and reconciliations
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two or more years of experience in similar type of work
  • Experience with large scale financial system applications (ie PeopleSoft)
  • Experience in extracting data from ERP system (queries)
  • Experience in contract management
  • Knowledge of sales tax, Unrelated Business Income Tax laws and regulations
Salary

Salary is $39,200 per year, plus an excellent benefits package including medical/dental/vision/life/LTD insurance, retirement plan, reduced tuition benefits, vacation and sick leave, paid holidays, as well as other benefits.
