Position Summary

Boise State University invites interested applicants for the position, Accountant II, to join us in our quest toward becoming a Metropolitan Research University of Distinction.  The accountant position will fill an essential role on the Treasury Management team. Responsibilities include accounting and analysis in the areas of Student Loan Receivable, Accounts Receivable, Unearned Revenue and Tuition.

 You will have the opportunity to:

  • Gather, process, analyze and report financial information using the PeopleSoft system.
  • Prepare and analyze financial records and documents.
  • Prepare journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts.
  • Perform an analytical review of complex account reconciliations.
  • Analyze general ledger activity, identify and make recommendations when improvements can be made to processes and compliance.
  • As an essential member of the Treasury team, special projects in any area may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

At a minimum you should have: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field or equivalent professional experience
  • Two years experience in similar work
  • The ability to demonstrate:
    • Exceptional analytical skills
    • Advanced Excel skills for managing large amounts of data
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to self-motivate, work independently and in a team
    • Knowledge of accounting best practices
    • Working knowledge of large ERP systems and Microsoft office products
    • Strong knowledge of customer service principles
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in higher education or the public sector
  • Four or more years experience in similar work with at least one year of performing the same functions as described
  • Strong independent decision making ability and problem solving skills
  • Highly-developed  time management skills
  • Proven record of analytical and computational accuracy

$40,000 per year, plus an excellent benefits package including medical/dental/vision/life/LTD insurance, retirement plan, reduced tuition benefits, 24 days vacation leave and 12 days sick leave annually, plus 10 paid holidays, as well as other benefits.
