The State employee medical plan has a 12-month waiting period before they will begin to pay benefits for pre-existing conditions. If you were covered by another medical plan within 63 days before your date of hire with the State and you enroll for coverage within 30 days of employment, the time enrolled under the prior plan may count toward fulfilling the 12-month waiting period.

For all new dental plan enrollees, there is a 12-month waiting period for major care (covered crowns, bridges, dentures) and orthodontia services.
